Production of Prosecco on the rise!
Italy Magazine has stated that Prosecco beat Champagne production in 2013! The popular Italian beverage increased to 330 million bottles last year, compared to approximately 300 million which are made by Champagne producers.
Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia are the regions in which prosecco is produced, traditionally found in the hills of Treviso. It is served unmixed as an aperitif, but can also be mixed to make famous drinks such as the famous Spritz and Bellini. Sometimes prosecco can be replaced in cocktails which contain Champagne (for a much cheaper option).Sgroppino is another Italian mixed drink which uses prosecco. Click here for the recipe!
