Chef Paolo Gatto cooks up a storm at Fine Food Australia 2013
It has been another successful year for Casa Italia at the 2013 Fine Food Show held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre from the 9-12th September – the last time before it relocates in 2 years whilst renovations are under way in Darling Harbour. During the four day event, the Casa Italia team had a fantastic time not only participating in the show but also viewing all the other exhibitors stalls; alongside the thousands of onlookers who strolled through the centre. Visitors were able to see a variety of unique specialities, some of which included coffee roasters and delicatessens, through to food packaging companies and equipment suppliers.
We were privileged to have Chef Paolo Gatto from Gatto Matto Trattorio in Sydney’s “little Italy”, cook on our stand. Throughout the four days, Paolo worked his culinary skills to create beautiful Italian dishes using a variety of traditional and modern Italian foods such as Venturino pasta and Mussini’s distinct range including the unique variety of ‘aged’ balsamics.
The Mussini “Saba” (vincotto) with strawberries was a delicate sweet that definitely caught the eyes and captured the palates of the onlookers – all coming back for more (see pictures below).
Casa Italia was also lucky enough to have World Pizza Champion from Italy, Danilo Pagano, perform “pizza acrobatics” at our stand on Thursday 12th September. The talented Danilo drew a strong crowd as he dazzled the many onlookers with his skills of spinning pizza dough unlike ever seen before.
